Welcome to Our Youth Program
At All Souls UU Church, our youth offerings are designed to be flexible and engaging, tailored to the unique needs of our small congregation. We embrace a “one-room schoolhouse” model, accommodating students of varying ages from 5 up to 17 in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Our Approach:
Our youth program is centered around adaptability and creativity. With an average class size of about 5 students, we prioritize individualized attention and dynamic learning experiences. Each session, we have a couple of projects or activities in mind that are suitable for the makeup of the class that day. We also maintain a classroom stocked with toys and art supplies to cater to the diverse interests and needs of our students.
Exploring Together:
Our topics cover a wide range of subjects, reflecting our commitment to holistic education. We do not adhere to a rigid curriculum dependent on regular attendance; instead, we strive to make each session meaningful and enriching, regardless of prior participation. From science experiments to outdoor adventures by the river in Bellville, we embrace hands-on learning and exploration.
Our Values:
In addition to academic learning, we prioritize instilling values of compassion, curiosity, and community engagement. We seize opportunities to integrate lessons on UU history and present-day activities, fostering a deeper understanding of our faith tradition and principles.
Join Us:
If you’re considering visiting with your children, we extend a warm invitation to you. We’d love to have you join us for a Sunday session! Please let us know in advance, and we’ll ensure you receive any relevant updates in case of schedule changes.
At All Souls, we believe that every child’s journey is unique and deserving of support and encouragement. We invite you to be a part of our vibrant and nurturing youth program. If your little ones aren’t comfortable joining the RE class, they are always welcome to stay with you in the pews. We don’t expect the littles to be quiet during the service and understand when they get a bit squirmy. We have quiet toys and coloring books upstairs, so you can still hear the service. If you need to step out with your little one, please know that you’re welcome to do so—it’s not a distraction to the congregation.
