Jacquie Zarley — Finding out at Memaw’s Age

January 21 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Sunday Service — 10:30 a.m.

Leader — Reed Richmond

Speaker — Jacquie Zarley

Title — Finding out at Memaw’s Age

Topic — Having been recently diagnosed with ADHD and Autism at the age of 60, ministerial candidate, Jacquie Zarley shares the journey; the absurdity of such a late diagnosis and their discovery that ADHD and ASD are both highly heritable (60–93%)

For decades, people who would be diagnosed today found ways to cope with living in a world that was not made to accommodate them. This is, indeed, a great heritage. It is not simply a brain that works gloriously different, but a vast resource of creative, courageous, and downright ingenious coping skills.

Bio — Jacquie Zarley is a nonbinary, queer person. They graduated from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio in 2020 and is a candidate in the UU fellowshipping process. Having recently completed a year-long internship At North Unitarian Universalist Church, they will be finishing up the final steps toward fellowship and ultimately ordination in 2024. They live with their partner of 28 years in Wadsworth. They have a dog, two cats and a weird little cactus plant that has miraculously walked the line between life and death for three years.

Join us downstairs after service for coffee and conversation.
