Jacquie Zarley — ROSA MYSTICA
December 8 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Sunday Service — 10:30 a.m.
Advent Candle of Peace
Leader — Reed Richmond
Speaker — Jacquie Zarley
Title — ROSA MYSTICA
Topic — This time of year, our minds are drawn to the myth of the nativity, the sacred birth of the Christ. Truth be told, this holiday is not about Jesus. The Christmas nativity story is really about Mary. Mary represents the goddess, the bringer of life, the vessel. She is the first. Life comes through her. Jacquie explores the symbolism of birth and pregnancy and “bringing forth,” and what it can teach all of us.
Bio — Jacquie Zarley is a 2020 graduate of the UU house of Studies, which is embedded within the Methodist Theological School in Ohio. She is a chaplain resident at the VA Hospital of Cleveland. She lives with her partner, Karlan, in Euclid, on the shore of Lake Erie.
