Sunday Service “The Climate Crisis: Let’s Work Together to Solve Our World’s Biggest Challenge.”
January 19, 2020 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
10:30 a.m. Sunday Service
Speaker: Mary DeLamatre “The Climate Crisis: Let’s Work Together to Solve Our World’s Biggest Challenge.”
Topic: My presentation is about the climate crisis and what we can do about it. The work I do every day to slow down climate change is rooted in my belief that God calls us to take care of God’s creation and to help people all around the world who are already
being hurt so badly by climate change. My presentation has 3 parts. The first section gives facts about climate change, what it’s caused by and how it effects people locally, around the country and around the world. The second section talks about what people are doing in response to climate change, such as the facts about the clean energy sector, planting trees and electric cars. The 3rd section discusses the Paris Climate Agreements and what all of us can do every day to fight climate change”. .
Bio: I am a stay at home mom with two teenagers, Katie and Sam. My first career was doing research in Psychology, and I got my Ph. D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and then worked for various research projects before . When my kids became teenagers, I was thinking about going back to work part-time, but then I read the 4th National Climate Assessment in November 2018, and I felt I was called to take action on climate change. I applied and was selected for Climate Reality Project Leadership training which was to take place in Atlanta, and I attended in March of 2019. Since then I have given 8 presentations to a wide variety of audiences: some at churches, some not, some to large audiences, some to small, some in the Midwest, some in the South.
